Nuvoton has released the NAU83U25YG, an automotive-grade Class-D audio amplifier designed for vehicle electronics applications. The stereo amplifier delivers 3W output power into 4Ω loads or 1.7W into 8Ω loads, operating with digital I2S input signals and featuring I²C-controlled gain adjustment from 22 dB to -62 dB.
The NAU83U25YG meets AEC-Q100 automotive qualification standards and operates across a temperature range of -40°C to +105°C. The amplifier achieves 90% power efficiency and maintains 2.1 mA quiescent current at 3.7V for both channels. Power supply rejection ratio measures greater than 80 dB at 217 Hz, while output noise remains at 18 μVrms at 0 dB gain setting.
The device incorporates spread-spectrum oscillator technology and slew-rate control to reduce electromagnetic interference without requiring external output filters. Built-in protection circuits include overcurrent protection, undervoltage lockout, overtemperature protection, and clock termination protection. The amplifier also features click-and-pop suppression circuitry and a fast 14-millisecond startup time.
The NAU83U25YG comes in a QFN-20 package and targets automotive applications, including dashboard systems, emergency call systems, advanced driver assistance systems, and telematics control units. The Class-D topology enables binary square wave generation for power device switching, providing improved power efficiency compared to Class-AB amplifier designs.
Digital I2S input compatibility allows direct connection to vehicle main controllers, reducing external component requirements and printed circuit board space. The amplifier’s EMI characteristics make it suitable for applications operating in wireless and AM frequency bands where electromagnetic interference must be minimized.
