Keeping electronics cool
A lot of electronics put into unmanned system gear gets special treatment for beefing up mechanical durability or thermal performance. This COM Express (VITA 59 RCE) module from MEN Micro Inc. is an example of the latter category. MEN Micro adds conduction “cooling ears” which take the form of the metal frame seen in this image for some uses in unmanned systems. The board contains an ARM i.MX 6 CPU with a Cortex-A9 architecture and an onboard FPGA for customizable I/O.
