Its wide operational temperature range means that it can operate in automobile cabin temperatures from -40 to 105 °C. Weighing in at just one gram, the sounder uses a simple structure, without a magnet or coil, to reduce the impact of electromagnetic noise on surrounding circuits. This contributes to the product’s extremely light weight. Further, it has considerably lower power consumption compared to its electromagnetic components counterparts.
“Murata applied our unique materials technology and advanced manufacturing processes to produce a surface mount piezoelectric sounder specifically for the automotive market,” said Jonathan Davis, Timing and New Products – General Manager, Murata Americas. “Our innovative efforts resulted in a new sounder that yields a higher sound pressure level than previous products. We anticipate that the PKMCS1818E20A0-R1 will be readily adopted in instrument cluster, control panel, power slide door, power tailgates, parking assist systems, and other automobile technologies.”
The sounders are available in tape reel packaging to streamline manufacturing speed and efficiency.
