Richardson Electronics Introduces X-Band Silicon Quad-Core IC from Anokiwave

January 15, 2016 By Andrew Zistler Leave a Comment

asdfRichardson Electronics, Ltd. has announced the availability of a new X-band silicon quad-core integrated circuit from Anokiwave, Inc.

The highly-integrated AWS-0101 is intended for radar and 5G phased array applications. The device supports four radiating elements, single-beam transmit and dual-beam receive, and includes all requisite beam-steering controls for 6-bit phase and gain control. It provides 21 dB gain during transmit mode, 21 dB gain in receive mode, +15 dBm output power during transmit, and 3.4 dB noise figure during receive. Additional features include gain compensation over temperature, temperature reporting, and fast beam-switching using eight on-chip beam weight storage registers.

The new IC offers ESD protection on all pins, operates from +1.8 V, and is packaged in a 56-lead, 7 mm x 7 mm PQFN for easy installation in planar phased array antennas.

“The AWS-0101 enables a complete silicon RF solution for commercial AESA, with reduced system size, weight and cost,” said Chris Marshall, CTO and VP Marketing of Richardson Electronics’ Power & Microwave Technologies group. “It is another example of how Anokiwave is opening the door for new possibilities in phased array applications.”
