Spring pin socket for DC/DC converters handles 25 A

A new socket addresses high current requirements for dual dc-dc converters. The SBT-DC/DC-9002 uses a contactor that is a spring pin with 136-gm actuation force per pin and cycle life of 250,000 insertions. The current capacity of each contactor is 25 A at 20°C temperature rise. Socket temperature range is -55 to +150°C. The socket features a floating SBT-DC-DC-9002guide for precise device lead-to-pin alignment. The socket also includes an additional floating compression plate that applies pressure on the device lead when compressed.

To use, the dc-dc converter is dropped into the socket, the floating compression plate is placed, the lid is swiveled into place, and downward pressure is applied by spring force. This socket can be used for hand test and high current applications with the most stringent requirements.

The specific configuration of the package to be tested in the SBT-DC/DC-9002 is a dc-dc converter with 37×28-mm body size, 5.08-mm pitch and a dual row of pins. Pricing for the SBT-DC/DC-9002 is $501 at qty 1 with reduced pricing available depending on quantity required.
