Gallery: Electronics in the spotlight at Xponential 2016 unmanned systems exhibition

Though the Xponential unmanned systems exhibition has a reputation for showing off a lot of exotic hardware, there were numerous developments on the electronics front at this year’s event. Themes we noticed included manufacturers paying more attention to the handling of huge data flows generated by optical and thermal sensors that sit onboard UAVs these days. Sensors themselves are getting more sophisticated. A lot of the sensors found on unmanned vehicles have been borrowed from the world of RC hobbyists. That’s changing as sensor manufacturers come up with versions of their devices that are more bullet proof. And system packaging seems to be getting more attention as electronics gets embedded in unmanned vehicles that must meet an increasing array of regulatory mandates.
We have summarized some of the advances we noticed in the following image gallery.
