Gallery: Electronics in the spotlight at Xponential 2016 unmanned systems exhibition

May 12, 2016 By Lee Teschler

Making a case for rugged use

LCR embedded systemsSometimes the biggest integration issue in unmanned system electronics is the packaging. Then suppliers such as LCR Embeddded Systems Inc. might get involved. Examples of its work include a box of electronics that turns a vehicle into a mobile cell tower (top). It handles LTE broadband for upto 16 active users and weighs less than 20 lb. It has dual removable antennas operating in a MIMO setup.
The “suitcase” (bottom) houses what began as a four-foot rack full of electronics. LCR squeezed the system into its present form by taking a judicious look at the I/O and making adjustments, and by resizing the compute power for the job at hand.
